Crowns

Crowns are a type of dental restoration used to restore teeth that have been significantly decayed or damaged.  The damaged tooth is entirely covered by the dental crown, beginning at the gum line. Our caring dentists may recommend a dental crown to restore the tooth to its original size, shape, and appearance.  In addition to restoring damaged and decayed teeth, dental crowns can be used for a variety of other purposes, including:

  • Strengthening a weakened or fractured tooth
  • Improving the appearance and function of an irregularly shaped tooth
  • Protecting a tooth following root canal therapy
  • Supporting a large dental filling when little original tooth structure remains
  • Completing a dental implant
  • Enhancing the beauty of your smile
  • Anchoring a dental bridge

Bridges

If you are missing one or more teeth, our doctors may recommend a bridge. A dental bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth, and it is a fixed(non-removable) dental restoration. To support the bridge our doctors will place a dental crown on the two teeth or dental implants on either side of the gap left by the missing teeth. These dental crowns anchor the artificial replacement teeth and help to ensure that the bridge is a a secure dental restoration.  Dental bridges are custom made to ensure that they comfortably fit your bite and effectively restore the function, health, and appearance of your smile.  Our dentists may recommend a dental bridge in order to:

  • Alleviate stress on the bite
  • Restore lost facial volume
  • Enhance the beauty of your smile
  • Prevent the remaining teeth from shifting in the mouth
  • Improve your ability to chew, speak, and eat as usual

In most cases, dental bridges can be placed in only two visits. To learn more about how a dental bridge can restore your smile, we welcome you to contact our dental office.

Bonding

If you are looking for a cosmetic dental treatment that is simple, conservative, and affordable, bonding is right for you. Cosmetic bonding can enhance the beauty of your smile by correcting cosmetic dental flaws, such as:

  • chipped and cracked teeth
  • Stains and discoloration on the surface of the teeth
  • Spaces and gaps between the teeth
  • Irregularly shaped teeth

Cosmetic bonding is an excellent choice for patients who want a quick solution to improve their smile-in most cases, bonding is completed in just one short visit to our dental office. Our skilled dentists use composite resin, which is a durable, tooth colored material to correct cosmetic dental flaws. The composite resin is bonded to the natural tooth structure with little to no tooth preparation, ensuring that your visit is comfortable and pleasant. Depending on your specific goals and desires, we can match the color of the composite resin to your natural tooth color or use a slightly lighter shade to brighten your smile. For more information on how cosmetic bonding can revitalize your smile, we invite you to call or visit us at Florence Dental Clinic. We look forward to improving your smile!

Dental Implants

If you are looking for a permanent, natural-feeding replacement for one or more missing teeth, we may recommend a dental implant. Because dental implants replace both the root and crown of the missing tooth, they are exceptionally stable, and they look and feel like natural teeth. The dental implant is first surgically placed in the jaw, providing a secure foundation for a custom dental implant restoration. After a period of healing a dental implant restoration will be placed. We will help you determine which type of dental implant restoration best meets your individual dental needs. Your implant restoration may be a dental bridge, or dental crown or mini implants for stabilizing a full denture. When completed, dental implants can improve our smile by:

  • Restoring your ability to chew, eat, and speak normal
  • Enhancing the beauty of your smile
  • Improving facial volume and shape
  • Preventing the remaining natural teeth from shifting the mouth

We are pleased to provide dental implants at Florence Dental Clinic to return your smile to optimal function beauty and health. We welcome you to contact us today at Florence Dental Clinic to learn more about the benefits of implant dentistry.

Veneers

If you would like to dramatically improve the appearance of your smile, veneers might be the right cosmetic dental treatment for you. Dental veneers are very thin shells that look like your natural teeth; the veneers are bonded to the front of the natural tooth structure to correct cosmetic dental flaws and enhance the beauty of your smile.  Dental veneers at Florence Dental Clinic are typically created from porcelain, which is a durable, tooth-colored material. With porcelain veneers, you can feel confident that your new smile will look beautiful and natural. Our doctors may suggest dental veneers to improve the appearance of our smile such as:

  • Irregularly shaped teeth
  • Cracked and chipped teeth
  • Misaligned teeth
  • Gaps and spaces between the teeth
  • Discoloration or stains on the surface of the teeth
  • Very worn teeth

In most cases, dental veneers require just two comfortable visits to Florence Dental Clinic. Our doctors will ensure that your custom veneers are both aesthetic and comfortable. For more information on how veneers can improve your smile, we invite you to contact our office today.

Fillings

If a tooth has become damaged by decay or injury, out talented dentists may recommend fillings. Dental fillings are used to repair teeth that have been decayed or injured when the damage is not extensive enough to warrant the use of a dental crown. To restore the health of the tooth, our dentist will:

  • Remove the decayed or damaged portion of the tooth
  • Clean the tooth
  • Fill in the tooth with the chosen filling material
  • Shape and polish the dental filling to fit your bite and aesthetically restore the tooth

At Florence Dental Clinic, fillings can typically be placed during just one comfortable appointment. Our caring dental team works hard to provide you with a pleasant, positive dental experience. Our doctors will be glad to discuss with you the best type of dental filling for your individual dental needs.  There are two main types of fillings: amalgam fillings and composite fillings.  Amalgam fillings are created using silver amalgam, and they are silver in color.  Composite fillings match the color of your natural teeth, and they are created using composite resin.  We invite you to contact Florence Dental Clinic to learn more about dental fillings.

Root Canal Therapy

Have you experienced severe tooth pain when biting or chewing? Have you noticed increased tooth sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures? If so, your tooth may be infected in the dental pulp or tooth nerve. The dental pulp may become infected because of injury or tooth decay that reaches far into the tooth. This can cause several painful symptoms, as well as a darkening or discoloration of the tooth. In order to restore the health of the infected tooth, our dentists may recommend root canal therapy. Root canal therapy is an endodontic treatment that can improve the function and health of the tooth and help to prevent the infection from spreading to other areas of the mouth.

To restore the health of the tooth, our dentist will first remove the infected or injured dental pulp and tooth nerve. They will clean and fill in the tooth, and a dental crown is recommend to improve its structure and appearance. At Florence Dental Clinic, root canal therapy can be completed in just two comfortable visits. If you are experiencing any type of tooth pain, we encourage you to contact us today.

Extractions

Our friendly dentists are dedicated to helping you keep your smile healthy for life. Certain condition, however, may make tooth extraction(tooth removal) the best option for improving your oral health. Tooth extraction may be necessary if:

  • A tooth has become impacted(stuck in the jawbone and gum tissue)
  • A tooth is significantly damaged or decayed, making and effective restoration(with a dental filling or crown)impossible
  • There is not enough room in the mouth for all of the teeth, causing misalignment and overcrowding of the teeth
  • Infection has destroyed a large portion of the tooth and surrounding bone

One of the benefits of tooth extraction is that it can prevent infection from spreading to other areas of the mouth. Our friendly dental team will ensure that your tooth extraction at Florence Dental Clinic is as comfortable as possible. Our doctors will review tooth replacement options with you and help you decide on the dental restoration that is best for your smile. If you are experiencing any type of tooth pain, we urge you to contact out dental office as soon as possible.

Partial Denture

If you have one or more natural teeth that remain in the upper or lower jaw, you may be a candidate for a partial denture. A removable partial denture usually consist of replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum-colored plastic base, which is sometimes connected by a metal framework that holds the denture in place in the mouth. A partial denture fills in the space created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from changing position. For more information on how partial denture can improve your smile, we invite you to contact our office today.

Complete Denture

If you are missing all natural teeth or if you are needing to have remaining natural teeth removed a complete denture may be an option for you.  A Complete denture can be either "conventional" or "immediate".  Made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has had time to heal, a conventional denture is ready for placement in the mouth. Unlike conventional dentures, immediate dentures are made in advance and can be positioned as soon as the teeth are removed. As a result, the patient does not have to be without teeth during the healing period. However, bones and gums shrink over time, especially during the healing period following tooth removal. Therefore a disadvantage of immediate dentures compared with conventional dentures is that they require more adjustments to fit properly during the healing process. For more information on how a Complete Denture can improve your smile, we invite you to contact our office today.

Sealants

A sealant is a preventive dental treatment that helps to protect your smile from tooth decay. Dental sealants are created by painting a plastic resin onto the surface of the tooth. At Florence Dental Clinic, sealants can be placed in one short, enjoyable visit to our dental office. Sealants are most often recommended for the back permanent molars as they are a common site of tooth decay.  Our doctors, usually recommend dental sealants for children as soon as their permanent back molars come in, which is generally between the ages of 6 and 12. It may be necessary to replace the dental sealants at a later time, and we may also suggest sealants for adult patients whose teeth are especially prone to decay. Dental sealants work to prevent tooth decay by forming a barrier on the tooth that blocks out food particles and bacteria that cause tooth decay. The dental sealant also creates a smooth surface on the natural pits and grooves of the tooth, making it easier to effectively clean the tooth. We welcome you to call or visit us at Florence Dental Clinic today to learn more about how dental sealants can protect your smile.
